//You send green flames dancing across your weapon as you strike a nearby enemy. The impact bathes nearby enemies in green embers.// \\

As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature within range of the component weapon. On a hit, the target suffers normal damage from the attack and you may deal 2d4 fire damage to either the target of the attack or a secondary target within 5 feet of it, or divide it between both (they each take 1d4 fire damage.)\\
\\
At higher levels the spell deals increased damage.\\
At 5th level the spell deals an additional 2d4 fire damage (For a total of 4d4). You may deal this damage as you choose between four targets in incremements of 1d4.\\
At 11th level the spell deals an additional 2d4 fire damage (For a total of 6d4), and can hit up to six targets.\\
At 17th level the spell deals an additional 2d4 fire damage (For a total of 8d4), and can hit up to eight targets.

**Original Text:** "As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature within the spell’s range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack’s normal effects, and green fire leaps from the target to a different creature of your choice that you can see within 5 feet of it. The second creature takes fire damage equal to your spellcasting modifier."\\
\\
**Issues:** Scales better than any other spell* when hitting two targets, uses melee-modifier for damage on primary target, casting modifier for damage on both targets, and with features adds spellcasting modifier again. Only spell that uses modifier as base part of design.\\
\\
**Solution:** Replace damage with single instance divisible between multiple targets, replace modifier with similar damage die.\\
\\
**Comments:** I upgraded the range to allow better use for non-EKs. Higher initial damage (too high?) but much lower scaling.\\
Single target damage modified from Melee attack + avg. +0 / +4 / +9½ / +14 to +5 / +10 / +15 / +20\\
Multitarget damage from Melee attack + avg. +3 / +12½ / +21½ / +30½ to +5 / +10 / +15 / +20\\
\\
I wanted to reward the danger of melee combat, without making GFB a mandatory spell for EKs (unsuccessfully). I also wanted to bring it in-line with other cantrips that scales linearly.\\
