The fey wild #2

Summer court

Summer court council Upon arriving on the fey wild the group finds themselves on an edge of a large plain, and on the edge of a beautiful city winding it's way up the trees and through the forest, intertwining within the trees. No matter where you look you always seem to have a full and unobstructed view of the city and it's border.

At the center of the city stands a great singular tree that is a great old oak tree. There is a narrow staircase winding it's way up the side of the tree into the leaf crown.

As the group enters through the portal they stumble into a small group of eladrin women gathering barries on the plain. As they see the group one of them approaches the group introducing herself as N'ilia. She takes the group to see the village elder, and presents him as V'alo.

V'alo appreciates the groups effort to help them seal the rift, and suggests that the group stay for the funeral proceedings that lasts three days. And n witch he is willing to call together the council for the area and let them hear the groups problem regarding the dragons. If the group stays for the proceedings they will be able to talk to the local council.

The council doesn't know much about the dragons other than what the group has already found out, but they are willing to set up a meting with the summer court's nobility if the group help them seal the rift. Also bringing back the body and all the possessions will grant the group free access throughout the villages domains. If the group accepts the offer to seal the rift they are given the following to aid them:

The group also gets directions to where the rift is located, and instructions on how to seal the rift. In order to seal the rift the group must pass through it, back to the material plane, and here they must use the scroll of closure.

Temple location In regards to the Temple of Melora, that the group is searching for, the council again has little knowledge. Although they can confirm that there once where a very powerful place of worship in her name in the woods on the material plane. They offer to scry for the temple, and comes up with a crude — but better — map of the forest than the one the group already possesses.

Looking for the rift brings the group across the plane. About a day out there is a canyon. As they get closer and closer to the canyons edge they start to find tracks of amongst other the slaads that they encountered earlier. When getting to the cayon they find that at the bottom thee is a small local storm that covers the bottom from sight. Venturing down the canyon provides quite a skill challenge, and failing to get down safely will result in the characters loosing healing surges.

In the bottom of the canyon, and below the storm cloud there is a black rift that allows to peak onto the material plane. This must be the rift. As the group gets close to it they are attacked by a group of demons consisting of:

Going through the rift will place the group back onto the material plane and somewhere in the mountains to the north of the forest. Closing the rift is quite easy, and quickly allows the group to get on with the seach for Melora's temple.

Melora's temple

Melora's temple When the group approaches Melora's temple they discover that as the drawing shows the temple is situated on a little island in a small lake in the forest. As soon as they get near the brink of the lake all arcane characters begin to feel sick, and all arcane sources doesn't work. Approaching the temple will be quite difficult, if the group has to face the slaads and demons occupying the island head on. So stealth is advised here.

The approach to the island will be treated as a skill challenge if the group decides to try and do it stealthy. If they should fail the skill challenge the monsters will recieve a +1 bonus to their attack, damage and saves against the characters. Should they succeed, they will be able to either mount a surprise round attack or sneak past the monsters all together.

As they approach the temple they see that it is not very big, and that the structure primarily consists of a single room with a single entrance. In the room is some images painted onto the walls. And in front of the building is a great statue. The statue stands on a base of pure marble and is made of pure gold, the eyes are made of two large green gemstones.

Inside the building, on the far wall, is an inscription in elvish: “Push me with force, and I shall never falter. Nudge me with faith, and I shall sway in the wind”. This refers to moving the statue outside. Moving it to the side will reveal a staircase leading down underground.

Underground consists mostly of some corridors leading into some rooms, but nothing of importance except this one corridor that is closed of by a large stone door. On the walls to the side of the door are two large holes, and on the door itself is another inscription in elvish: “Gather the force, and the path will be revealed”. Putting the power crystals into the holes in the wall will open the door.

Beyond the door is a large room with nothing much in it. In the middle there is a pillow. There is an old man sitting here. As the group enters he looks up and greets them. He can't remember his name, or much else from the world outside. All he remembers is that he was charged with protecting Xixuur's real name until the other druids could succeed in completing the ritual that would bind it in the mountain. He fears that they might have failed their quest as they never came back here to find him.
