Background: Guild Artisan
Why are you in the guild?
• At birth, my mother died, and my father, who longed for travel and freedom, abandoned me at the doorsteps
of the guild. I got taken in by one of its members, an elven woman, who nurtured me and taught me the art of
enchanting. She went on a quest a long time ago, and never returned to her 12 year old boy. After that, I've
worked to become a fully fledged Enchanter, and I achieved guild member status at the age of 18. The guild
is my family, and I would guard its members with my life.
What motivates you?
• Perfection of my art. I seek to become the greatest enchanter in the known world, an aspiration I have
from my adoptive mother.
What do you seek?
• Legendary artifacts and magical items.
• Knowledge about the arcane arts.
• The father who abandoned me.
• My adoptive mother who went missing on a quest long ago.
Personality Trait
• I like to talk for hours about my craft.
• I'm always curious to know how magic works. Often at my own peril.
Ideal
• Aspiration. I work hard to become the best there is at my craft.
Bond
• I owe my guild a great debt for forging me into the man I am today.
Flaw
• I'll do anything to get my hands on something rare or priceless.
• I'm never satisfied with what I've created - I usually discard it as junk even though it may work.
• I'm not aware of my surroundings when I'm walking, talking or working.
FEATURE:
• Guild Membership: As an established and respected member of a guild, you
can rely on certain benefits that membership provides.
Your fellow guild members will provide you with
lodging and food if necessary, and pay for your funeral
if needed. In some cities and towns, a guildhall offers a
central place to meet other members of your profession,
which can be a good place to meet potential patrons,
allies, or hirelings.
Guilds often wield tremendous political power. If
you are accused of a crime, your guild will support you
if a good case can be made for your innocence or the
crime is justifiable. You can also gain access to powerful
political figures through the guild, if you are a member
in good standing. Such connections might require the
donation of money or magic items to the guild’s coffers.
You must pay dues of 5 gp per month to the guild. If
you miss payments, you must make up back dues to
remain in the guild’s good graces.
